Ms. Elle is the founder of Schoolhouse in the Woods, and a Montessori educator who specializes in teaching lost skills. Since she was age five, she has known that teaching would be her life's work. She believes that the children are our future, and in our turbulent world, they need support to develop into thriving humans on our planet. He
Ms. Elle is the founder of Schoolhouse in the Woods, and a Montessori educator who specializes in teaching lost skills. Since she was age five, she has known that teaching would be her life's work. She believes that the children are our future, and in our turbulent world, they need support to develop into thriving humans on our planet. Her hobbies are gardening, yoga, being on the water, nature exploration, traveling, and spending time with her family. She loves teaching at Schoolhouse in the Woods, and is passionate about helping children to reach their highest potential!

Ms. Lisa has been with us for a while now, and we don’t know what we would do without her. In addition to her 20+ years of classroom teaching experience, she is also a yoga instructor, and a very talented artist. She loves to hike and spend time in nature, and she enjoys sharing her love of the outdoors with our students!

At Schoolhouse in the Woods you can find her reading books, swimming with the children in Lake Winona, or listening to a lovely tale by one of our students. As a lover of nature, surfing, and all things outdoors, she believes that children need time in nature to become self-regulated and compassionate individuals on our earth.

Mr. Mark has been with us since the beginning of our Apopka location. Having a diverse and extensive background in community education, nature-based learning, and nonprofit work, Mr. Mark has the perfect expertise for Schoolhouse in the Woods, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have him as a lead teacher.

Serving as Director at two different educational organizations, taking on roles in administration, tutoring, curriculum planning, and more, Mr. Mark is also a homeschooling parent. Additionally, he has a strong passion for music, storytelling, and nature, which is part of why his students believe he is just the greatest!!

With a degree in Early Childhood Education, she loves creating spaces where children can explore through art, handwork, storytelling, and meaningful connection with the natural world. Ms. Ale is a mother of four, homeschooling parent, and passionate advocate for nature-based learning. With a degree in Early Childhood Education, she loves creating spaces where children can explore through art, handwork, storytelling, and meaningful connection with the natural world. Beyond Schoolhouse in the Woods, Ms. Ale walks alongside growing families as a birth doula, childbirth educator, and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She believes that time in nature, the freedom to wonder, and a strong sense of community provide the richest foundation for lifelong learning.
Our weekly and bimonthly programs serve homeschooled children, ages five through seventeen, at Camp Winona in DeLeon Springs and Camp Thunderbird in Apopka.
